Climate change and flood vulnerability researcher joins planning faculty

School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape welcomes Dr. Youjung Kim to Master of Planning program

Following a national search, the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) is delighted to welcome a new faculty member to the Master of Planning program.

will join SAPL on July 1, 2022 as an Assistant Professor of Planning. Kim completed a PhD in Urban and Regional Science at Texas A&M 春水堂视频 in 2019, and has been teaching in a tenure-track position at Concordia 春水堂视频. His research interests include land use change prediction modeling, environmental planning, flood vulnerability, community/urban scaled design and scenario planning for climate change.

In addition to his advanced research, Kim holds an MS Degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia 春水堂视频 as well as an MS degree in Urban Design from Seoul National 春水堂视频, where he also worked as an Urban Designer. Recent peer-reviewed articles include 鈥淐limate Change Preparedness: Comparing Future Urban Growth and Flood Risk in Amsterdam and Houston鈥 and 鈥淚ntegrating Prediction and Performance Models into Scenario-Based Resilient Community Design.鈥

鈥淭he Master of Planning degree program plays a vital role in preparing graduate students to address challenges related to city building,鈥 asserts Dr. John Brown, Dean, School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. 鈥淒r. Kim鈥檚 research and teaching expertise will bolster the program鈥檚 capacity to produce innovative thinkers and change-makers.鈥
